VEC Grants Offer Support for Food Security, Seniors and More
Johnson, Vt – The Fairfield Community Center will be better able to purchase important food staples, like flour, sugar, spices and more, for weekly home-cooked community meals thanks to a recent grant from the Vermont Electric Co-operative’s Community Fund. Other recent grants to local non-profits will support services for seniors, the purchase of a pop-up tent for outdoor recreation, and support for veterans.

VEC Seeking Candidates for Board of Directors
Johnson, Vt – Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) is seeking petitions from eligible candidates for three board of directors’ seats that are up for election in May. “Serving on the board is a great opportunity to serve your community by engaging on some of the most important issues of our time: climate change, energy affordability and electric reliability,” said Rebecca Towne, VEC’s chief executive officer. “Our board members have a range of perspectives and backgrounds, and that serves our members well,” she said. “If you have ever considered running, why not consider it this year?”

VEC Energy Transformation Incentives Continue for 2022
Johnson, VT – Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) is continuing to offer a wide variety of bill credits this year for members who purchase certain electricity-powered devices for their homes or businesses to transition away from fossil fuels. “These incentives are designed to help members choose technologies for heating and cooling their homes and getting around that are more modern, cleaner and less expensive over the long term,” said Jake Brown, energy services planner at VEC.

VEC Community Fund Supports Richford Sign, Skating Rink Fence
Johnson, Vt – Initiatives in Richford to purchase an electronic community message sign and also build a safety fence around an outdoor skating rink both recently received grant support from the VEC Community Fund. “Both these grants will go a long way toward supporting our local community,” said Richford Economic Development Coordinator Levi Irish.

Vermont Electric Co-op Files for 2022 Rates
Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) today filed a request with the Vermont Public Utility Commission for a rate increase of 1.96 percent to take effect at the beginning of 2022. When implemented, a residential customer with a bill of $100/month would see their bill increase $1.96 per month, or $23.52 per year.

Vermont Electric Cooperative powers up two new solar arrays in Jericho in support of 100 percent renewables by 2030
Jericho, VT — Encore Renewable Energy and Vermont Electric Cooperative announced today the commissioning of two new community scale solar projects comprising 4.5 megawatts (MW) of new, clean energy generation in Jericho. The two new solar arrays include a 2.3MW project on the town’s former gravel pit (photo above left) and a 2.2MW project on the former municipal landfill (photo above right).

VEC Again Recognized with Cigna Well-Being Award
Johnson, VT - For the third year in a row, Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) has received the prestigious Cigna Well-Being Award from the insurance company Cigna. VEC is the only company in Cigna’s book of business that has won the award three years running. “At VEC, employee well-being is a top priority – and we are honored to be selected again for this award,” said Katie Orost, VEC’s Tariff and Rate Specialist and Wellness Team leader.

VEC issuing ‘Last Call’ for Vermont COVID Arrearage Assistance Program
Johnson, Vt – Vermont Electric Co-operative (VEC) is urging members to act immediately if they need financial assistance from the Vermont COVID Arrearage Assistance Program (VCAAP II) for past due utility bills. “This is basically last call,” said VEC Member Services Manager Sue Bernier. “To all our members who have suffered pandemic-related economic hardship and have past due accounts, we have one message: please act now! The electric disconnection moratorium has ended and the assistance program will end October 24 or even sooner if funds run out, so time is of the essence,” Bernier said.
