Eleven candidates are vying for three seats up for election this year on the board of directors of Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC). Because VEC is a cooperative, members elect local representatives to serve on VEC’s twelve-member board. The three districts with seats up for election this year are District 2, East Zone, and West Zone.

VEC Invites Members to Participate in Flexible Load Water Heating Program
Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) is inviting members to participate in an innovative program designed to make the electric grid cleaner, cheaper, and easier to run. Here’s how it works: a small device developed by Burlington-based Packetized Energy is installed on an electric resistance water heater, enabling it to heat water when electricity is being produced by cleaner and less expensive sources. There’s no change to the supply or availability of hot water.

VEC Community Fund Supports Lamoille Restorative Center
Community Fund of the Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) recently awarded a grant to a local non-profit to smooth the way for people who have faced challenges as they work to achieve their goals. The VEC grant to the Lamoille Restorative Center (LRC) will help fund essential and concrete purchases – necessities like gasoline, groceries, cell phone minutes, work boots and shoes, winter coats, and deposits for internet connections – that are barriers to success for many people.

VEC Community Fund Supports People in Recovery from Substance Use Disorder
Johnson, Vt – The Community Fund of the Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC) recently awarded a grant to the local non-profit Jenna’s Promise to support recovery from substance use disorder. The grant will go toward upgrading the kitchen at Jenna’s House - a center point for the community in Johnson - to better host community events, offer cooking classes to the community, and help to aid people in their recovery journey.
