VEC Marks National Co-op Month with Local Food Drive, Celebrating “Concern for Community”
Johnson, VT- Vermont Electric Co-op is calling on members to make donations to their local food shelves during the month of October in honor of National Co-op Month.
Jake Brown, VEC’s Communications and Engagement Specialist, noted that food insecurity continues to be a major challenge in Vermont.
“Concern for Community is one of the Seven Cooperative Principles – so let’s step up and make a special effort to help our neighbors this month,” Brown said.
If they like, people making donations can take a photo at their food shelf drop-off and either email it to [email protected] to be posted on the VEC Facebook page, or they can post it themselves in the comments under VEC’s Feed Our Neighbors Facebook post.
If you don’t know where your local food pantry or food shelf is located, you can find it here: vtfoodbank.org/access-food/find-a-food-shelf. (It might also make sense to call ahead to see what specific sorts of food and supplies your local food shelf needs.)
