Over the decades since VEC’s power lines were first built across our service territory, our landscape—and our reliance on electricity—has changed dramatically.
Open farmland has grown back into forest, and electricity has become essential to daily life. This one-hour webinar will explore how the co-op is proactively strengthening the grid by relocating power lines from forested rights-of-way to roadside corridors or, where feasible, underground. Panelists will be Beth Vaughn, VEC Right-of-Way Associate, and Tucker Williams, VEC Operations Supervisor.
Beth manages VEC's right-of-way records, and coordinates easement negotiations and environmental permitting for capital improvement projects. She supports these resilience and reliability projects by conducting research, directing contractors, collaborating with landowners, and keeping VEC up to date on environmental best practices. In this role Beth leans heavily on her background in the Liberal Arts from St. John's College, as well as her career experience in environmental education, arboriculture, and utility vegetation management.
Tucker oversees key initiatives that strengthen system reliability for VEC members. As part of his work, Tucker leads projects to relocate power lines from forested rights-of-way to roadside corridors, improving long-term access, safety, and outage response. With more than a decade of utility experience, Tucker plays a central role in modernizing VEC’s infrastructure and reducing storm-related vulnerabilities.
